Habib is a Subject-Matter Expert (SME) on Natural Gas development and utilisation and is also an expert in Entrepreneurial Strategy Development. Trained as a Chemical Engineer, he has garnered over 18 years experience in both the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil industry culminating in his authoring a book; "Challenges and Prospects in the Nigerian Oil Industry - the Obasanjo Years" in 2007. He has consulted for Gas and Petroleum Upstream Committees of the Nigerian Parliament and worked closely with the team responsible for drawing up the Gas Master Plan currently being implemented by NNPC. A pragmatist, he was one of the earliest proponents of host-community involvement in oil production JVs in a concept called; "Stockholders, not stakeholders". As Lead Associate of PSICRON CONSULTING, Habib helps organisations develop knowledge and enterprise in key areas. He is the Energy consultant to the Zamfara State Government, and is presently Partner / Vice President, Strategy and Business Development of Energy and Engineering Technology Consulting Ltd (an undertaking established by retired group executive directors of NNPC). He has worked with the Nigerian Export Import Bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria,the World Bank Institute and FIMBank Malta to introduce new Trade Finance instruments into the Nigerian financial mix. He is currently working with the Energy Commission of Nigeria,the Ministries of Power, and Mines and Steel Development to develop a framework for the development of Coal-to-Power plants. He is part of a consortium working to build an IPP and has influenced policy redirection in the Ministry of Power. Habib has been an Associate Member of the Nigerian Gas Asssociation since 2008. He was recently the Special Assistant (Special Duties) to the immediate past Minister of State for Works.
